Eureka! Interlocking Rings

I looked at it again with a fresh head this morning and I was also able to view Karen's video to the end and I had another go.  I just had to post again straight away.

Eureka!

Here is my first interlocking rings rosette:

I'm a happy bunny.

Best wishes,

  1. OOOH - very cool! I have actually done this by accident! But, I never knew there was a great use for this mistake! Thanks for the heads-up.

  7. Wonderful! Your rings look great! Very 'Olympic' indeed!

Because it was late last night when I wrote my comment on your previous post, I didn't realize you were referring to Karen's video #77 among her 100+(!) amazing tutorial videos! (I haven't investigated all her videos, so I missed this one, and I thank you so much for linking to it!) I'm delighted to see that for the interlocking rings she IS using a standard shuttle.

Her video #82 (the one I was referring to in my previous post) shows how to weave a long chain, and she does recommend a 'netting' needle to do that.

I wrote to Karen awhile back commending her on her amazing tatting and her exceptional videos! I was astounded that she started making them back in 2010!

I can't wait to try these interlocking rings!

    1. Hi Kathy,

I don't mean for this one to look Olympic... I'm now trying to get to a lovely symmetrical rosette. Just one of my attempts when I was playing, I thought that looked a bit like Olympic rings.

Yes, Karen has an amazing array of videos! It's wonderful she does it all for us.

  8. Definitely a bit of a brain puzzle this one. Just when you think you've got it worked out... it defeats you again! But I won't be beaten... I won't!

  9. yeah! good for you.
I watched the video last night and for some reason I have heard of this technique, maybe at Olympics time many years ago. tried it that time, but then forgot it. Thanks for bringing this back to my attention
